Mazda Earns ‘Best Car Styling’ Award from Kelley Blue Book

The obsession in the details has paid off for Mazda yet again, as Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com has awarded Mazda with the 2017 Brand Image Award for “Best Car Styling Brand.” While the design of the compact Mazda3, midsize Mazda6 and MX-5 Miata roadster and RF retractable fast back sports car were all that the KBB.com experts needed to crown Mazda with the award, it goes without saying that Mazda’s KODO—Soul of Motion design language continues to fascinate consumers and automotive enthusiasts. Mazda vehicles are designed to look pure and refined, with distinct design cues shared across Mazda’s lineup. Mazda’s passion for creating the ultimate form of beauty has proved successful on a global scale with consecutive appearances on the finalist list for the World Car Design of the Year (WCDOTY) as well. The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata took home the win in 2016 followed by the 2017 Mazda CX-9 being named a finalist in the same category this year. KBB.com’s 2017 Brand Image Awards are based on consumer automotive perception data from Kelley Blue Book Strategic Insights’ Brand Watch™ study. Brand Watch is an online brand and model perception tracking study tapping into 12,000+ in-market new-vehicle shoppers annually on Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com.

Mazda's Pre-Collision Safety Technology helps reduce the severity of a collision when one becomes unavoidable.

Pre-Collision Safety Technology SCBS (Smart City Brake Support) These systems automatically apply the brakes to reduce the severity of a collision. Rear-end collisions are the most common type of accident, and approximately 60% of these occur at relatively low speeds of 30km/h or less. more Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) helps the driver avoid frontal collisions while driving at the slow speeds common in urban areas or congested traffic. When driving at low speeds (approximately 4 - 30 km/h) a laser sensor mounted on the windsheild senses the car in front. If the system detects a risk of collision, it prepares the brake system to be ready to deliver maximum stopping power when the driver brakes. If the driver does not take evasive action such as braking or steering, the system simultaneously applies the brakes and reduces engine output, with the aim of avoiding the collision or reducing the severity of impact. Acceleration Control for AT This system stops the car from taking off suddenly when the driver mistakenly steps on the accelerator instead of the brake. This system curbs sudden acceleration when the driver steps on the accelerator by mistake, by unintentional pedal operation. The system comes into effect if the driver presses the accelerator pedal more than a prescribed amount when the vehicle is stopped and the laser sensor detects an obstacle in front. It checks sudden acceleration by curbing engine output while alerting the driver with an alarm and a warning light displayed on the meter display. Pre-Crash Safety Technologies are designed to reduce damage and/or injuries resulting from accidents. However each system has its limitations, and no safety system or combination of such systems can prevent all accidents. These systems are not a replacement for safe and attentive driving. Please drive carefully at all times and do not rely on technology to prevent an accident. Not all of these systems are available on all models or in all markets, so please contact your local Mazda dealer for details on availability. Please refer to your owners' manual for additional important system details, limitations and warnings.
