Mazda3 Wins 2020 World Car Design Of The Year

The Mazda3 won the 2020 World Car Design of the Year award, one of the special awards of the World Car Awards (WCA). The Mazda3 is the brand’s second to be named World Car Design of the Year, following the Mazda MX-5 winning the award in 2016. “Mazda is honored to be recognized with this prestigious award,” said Masahiro Moro, Chairman and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. “While we’re pleased to receive this good news, we remain focused on the health and safety of our employees, dealers, customers, and communities. We look forward to celebrating with our Mazda family in the future.” In pursuit of Mazda’s design philosophy, Car as Art, the Mazda3 adopts a matured Kodo design—which has received recognition around the world. Taking inspiration from Japanese aesthetics, Mazda adopted a “less is more” approach when designing the Mazda3 and stripped away superfluous elements from the car’s form. The result is a unique design that creates subtle undulations of light and shadows gliding over the car’s smooth body, crafting a natural and powerful expression of vitality. Furthermore, despite sharing the same model name, the hatchback and sedan models have distinct personalities—the design of the hatchback is emotive, the sedan elegant. We are honored to give back to those dedicated to saving lives during this pandemic,” MNAO President Jeff Guyton said. “We understand the important role vehicles play in people’s lives, and by partnering with our dealer network, we hope to make a meaningful impact in communities around the country.” Inspired by Mazda dealers who implemented similar programs for healthcare workers locally, Mazda quickly developed a nationwide plan to partner with its dealer network to invest in this initiative honoring healthcare heroes across the U.S. “Mazda dealers prioritize giving back to the communities in which they operate,” Jim McDonald, Mazda National Dealer Advisory Council Chairman said. “In this challenging time, we want to do what we can to support our local healthcare workers. We deeply appreciate all they have done and will continue to do in the fight against COVID-19.” In order to help ensure the safety of healthcare workers and service employees, dealers participating in the Essential Car Care initiative have committed to enhanced vehicle cleaning of high-touch interior and exterior surfaces using Mazda and EPA-approved cleansers. Passport Mazda brings you a few tips on how to clean your car to reduce the spread of COVID-19

Here are a few ways to reduce the corona virus threat in your vehicle. Some of the highly touched areas in your car are a great place for germs to harbor. The steering wheel can have the majority of germs in a car. When starting to disinfect your vehicle we suggest beginning with the steering wheel, radio controls, cruise control, turn signals and don't forget the paddle shift levers. The best thing to use on these surfaces are disinfectant wipes however, soap and water can work too. Using disinfectant wipes on your doors grab handles is also a great idea as they are hot spots for germs as well. Do not use any type of bleach or peroxide on the cars interior. These type of chemicals can cause damage to the surfaces in your vehicle.

Mazda Honors Centennial With 100Th Anniversary Special Edition Series

In January of this year, Mazda Motor Corporation celebrated its 100th anniversary. Mazda is humbled by the strong support from so many people all over the world, from enthusiastic fans, passionate engineers and designers, and all others who have supported the brand. To express the years of appreciation, Mazda has announced 100th Anniversary Special Edition models. Mazda looks to its fans to understand the best way its vehicles can help enrich their lives, focusing on every detail that will heighten the ownership experience. Each vehicle has been developed with an aspiration to look ahead, while also remembering and respecting the rich Japanese heritage that has guided the brand. The 100th Anniversary Special Edition models will be built from upper-trim levels of select vehicles while sharing design cues from the 1960 R360 Coupe, Mazda’s first passenger vehicle. more Developed with an extraordinary passion, the R360 Coupe had a personality of its own with futuristic design, lightweight features and innovative engineering that would come to define Mazda today. The micro-mini passenger car was powered by a four-cycle engine, unprecedented among its segment at the time. The stylish coupe and modest powertrain, combined with extensive weight-reduction efforts, helped allow the R360 Coupe to provide every owner with effortless driving performance. In homage to Mazda’s first passenger car, the 100th Anniversary Special Edition models were inspired by the top-trim variants of the R360 Coupe, which had a two-tone scheme of a white body contrasted with a colored roof and matching interior hue. The style was novel, yet tasteful, and helped to emphasize a sense of individuality. Each commemorative model is adorned in Snowflake White Pearl Mica premium exterior paint and accented by red styling features throughout the vehicle. The front fender has a minimalist “100 Years 1920 – 2020” badge while the wheel center caps feature the 100th Anniversary Special Logo in red and black. The red leather seats and red carpet add a level of sophistication while giving a nod to the two-tone R360 Coupe. The headrests are embossed with the 100th Anniversary Special Logo, while the red floor mats share a badge similar to the front fender. To bring the exceptional package together, the key fob is embossed with the 100th Anniversary Special Logo and presented in a special edition box to help create an emotional bond between fans and Mazda. The 100th Anniversary Special Edition models feature a unique logo that celebrates Mazda’s past, present and future. The logo overlays the current Mazda brand mark atop the round “Industry” logo created when Toyo Kogyo was first formed. The design reflects the company’s desire – inherited from its founder – to contribute to the world through engineering and its determination to move boldly toward the next 100 years. In the midst of the global crisis, U.S. availability of the 100th Anniversary Special Edition models has not been announced. Keep up to date with Inside Mazda for future information and news.
