Subsequent models for the North American and Australian markets with i-ACTIV AWD include CX-3, which went on sale in 2015, and the all-new CX-9, which will go on sale in eight global markets in 2016. One-Millionth Mazda MX-5 Comes Home

Mazda Motor Corporation announced today that the One-Millionth Mazda MX-5, a commemorative model celebrating the production of 1 million units of Mazda's iconic two-seater convertible sports car, has returned home after a year-long tour that saw the model exhibited at fan-facing events around the globe. The car arrived back at the company's Hiroshima headquarters on April 7. Mazda organized the One-Millionth MX-5 tour to celebrate with fans the achievement of 1 million units and to say thank you to everyone who has supported the model over the years. Over the course of the tour the car was exhibited at 35 events in Japan, the U.K., Spain, Germany, Belgium, the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and more than 10,000 MX-5 fans signed their name on the bodywork. more "Seeing so many signatures from all over the world really brought home the fact that people from different countries, cultures and generations have supported the MX-5 for more than a quarter of a century," said Masashi Nakayama, Program Manager and Chief Designer of the fourth-generation MX-5. "We are forever grateful to these fans, and we will continue working to elevate this car, a symbol of Mazda's dedication to driving pleasure, to the realm of high culture as we set our sights on the next milestone - 2 million units." The One-Millionth MX-5 will take part in the parade at the Hiroshima Flower Festival on May 3 and will be on display in the lobby of Mazda's Hiroshima headquarters from May 8-12. Mazda will continue promoting initiatives that value car culture and the history the brand has built together with its customers. It aims to enrich people's lives through a variety of touchpoints and become a brand with which customers feel a strong emotional connection.

2017 Mazda CX-9 Wins Wards 10 Best Interiors Award

Having previously won a spot on the prestigious list of Wards 10 Best Engines Award just a few months ago, the 2017 Mazda CX-9 earned its place with its turbocharged SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine delivering standout performance and efficiency. Now, Mazda’s designers get to join the engineering team with another accolade of their own, as CX-9 has earned a 2017 Wards 10 Best Interiors award. “We designed Mazda CX-9’s interior from the onset with a concept of ‘Smart Indulgence,’ recognizing that there’s a balance between needs and wants,” said Julien Montousse, director of design, Mazda Design Americas, who personally led the design of CX-9’s interior. “Our goal was to maximize both functionality for families and opulence for couples looking for a getaway. “We’re thankful that WardsAuto recognized CX-9 as a ’10 Best Interiors’ winner, as it speaks to the success of our fledgling ‘Mazda Premium’ brand focus and the evolution of our KODO—Soul of Motion design language.” The second-generation CX-9 went on sale in May 2016, launching Mazda’s new top-tier Signature trim level, which features LED interior accent lighting, Auburn Nappa leather seating surfaces, rosewood sourced from premium guitar-maker Fujigen and aluminum trim. Complemented by its refined ride, quiet interior and the rush of 310 lb-ft of nearly instant torque from just 2,000 rpm and channeled through available, predictive i-ACTIV all-wheel drive, CX-9’s style and substance have strongly resonated with buyers. While most crossover SUVs see the majority of their sales in mid-tier trim levels, CX-9 buyers have overwhelmingly opted for top-trim CX-9 Grand Touring and Signature models—about 60 percent of model mix. Additionally, CX-9 has brought in new buyers that often come from premium or luxury nameplates. WardsAuto Senior Editor Tom Murphy said customers picking the upper trim levels of the new CX-9 is no surprise. “Our Signature test model arrived fully loaded with the beautiful rosewood and aluminum trim, rich two-tone leather and all the creature comforts we could want, for under $46,000,” Murphy said. “This is the kind of upscale versatility that makes utility vehicles so popular in America.” Starting at an MSRP of $31,520 in the thick of the three-row crossover SUV segment, CX-9 offers a combination of engaging driving dynamics, craftsmanship, quality, design and efficiency that is unmatched in its segment—truly the Mazda of family crossovers. Keep your passengers safe with the Mazda i-ACTIVSENSE technology

I-ACTIVSENSE® An active approach to safety, i-ACTIVSENSE® uses milliwave radars and cameras to keep you in tune with your surroundings. While keeping you focused on the road. Get maximum confidence and enjoyment out of your drive knowing these available systems are constantly working to alert you to potential hazards, avert collisions, or reduce their severity when one is unavoidable.1 It’s another example of our Jinba Ittai philosophy of creating oneness between car and driver. more ACTIVE SAFETY TECHNOLOGY Active Safety Technology helps the driver prevent accidents by supporting his or her ability to predict and avoid hazards through visual and auditory alerts. PRE-COLLISION SAFETY TECHNOLOGY Pre-Collision Safety Technology helps reduce the severity of a collision when one becomes unavoidable. PASSIVE SAFETY TECHNOLOGY These technologies help protect occupants and reduce damage in the event of a collision. They include the rigid SKYACTIV®-Body with ring structure, seatbelt with pretensioner and load limiter, anti-intrusion brake pedal, SRS Airbag Systems2, and more. INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS As we continue to invest in lifesaving safety technology, it’s always with a loftier goal in mind: to realize a world where traffic accidents no longer occur. With over 25 years of research and investment into this technology, we believe that Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) can make this a reality. ITS reduces accidents and congestion by receiving and transmitting information about the location of pedestrians and other cars, then relaying it to drivers. Although it is not yet available, we continue to invest in this technology in the hope of one day making accidents a thing of the past.
