Learn more about the Mazda I-ACTIV AWD
I-ACTIV AWD®
Our predictive i-ACTIV AWD® system delivers traction and confidence on every type of road surface and in every type of weather. When equipped, information from multiple data points measuring road conditions and driving inputs is used to predict the need for AWD and adjust power delivery accordingly.
i-ACTIV all-wheel drive was introduced in the 2013 Mazda CX-5, the first sixth-generation vehicle with a full integration of SKYACTIV Technologies. Subsequent models for the North American and Australian markets with i-ACTIV AWD include CX-3, which went on sale in 2015, and the all-new CX-9, which will go on sale in eight global markets in 2016. Several other global Mazda products also feature i-ACTIV AWD.
The Windy City has always been the Mazda MX-5 Miata’s second home, serving as the launch pad for its world debut at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show and the site of numerous MX-5 “firsts.” This year, it’s where Mazda announces pricing and packaging for the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF, or retractable fastback. The MX-5 RF complements Mazda’s sports car lineup with classic coupe proportions that elevate both its cache and curb appeal.
Entering into its second model year, the award-winning MX-5 RF receives some notable upgrades, including newly standard heated cloth sport seats in MX-5 Club models, standard Advanced Keyless Entry on all models, new color options and heated leather-trimmed seats in MX-5 RF Club’s Brembo/BBS Package.

Mazda Motor Corporation has announced that the Light Duty Fuel Economy Trends Report,1 released by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Jan. 12, 2018, lists the company as having the highest overall Manufacturer Adjusted Fuel Economy for the 2016 model year.2 Mazda receives the first-place ranking for the fifth year in a row.
The EPA’s report summarizes fuel economy trends by model year for vehicles sold in the U.S. and ranks automakers by Manufacturer Adjusted Fuel Economy. Mazda’s overall average fuel economy was 29.6 miles per gallon, improved 0.4 mpg over the previous year.
Mazda’s mission is to enrich people’s lives and society as a whole while helping to preserve the beauty of the earth. The company developed SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY; an innovative range of engines, transmissions, bodies and chassis; and deployed them throughout the lineup to provide all customers with both driving pleasure and outstanding environmental and safety performance. These continuing efforts have played a key role in allowing Mazda to record the highest overall average fuel economy five years in a row.
Moving forward Mazda hopes to help create a future in which people, the earth and society can coexist with cars, to enrich people’s lives through a car ownership experience that celebrates driving, and to become a brand with which customers feel a strong emotional connection.
